"Artificial light, man made light must reflect nature"

Simmons College

Drawing on the tumultuous times of the past four years, I created (out of whole clothe) a few headlines that I felt were emblematic of how we as a culture express ourselves in headlines, or, as we now call them, sound bites. In this exhibition at the Trunstman Gallery at Simmons College in Boston, I projected headlines on the gallery walls using strobe lights as the projectors. The lights were activated as patrons entered and pass through the gallery. The projects were ‘soft’—not blinding, and blended onto the gallery wall as if they had been painted there in soft white paint. The words fluttered for a few seconds, then went out—leaving a ghostly impression of left over news. The front of the Simmons College faces the Fenway, and the façade of the building had two projectors that ran throughout the night.

This work and installation were sponsored by the Taconic Trust and Simmons College.
